A Note from Carmen and Jairo

Definitely, as this phrase says, it has become a home for the majority, if not for all, the guests who visit us in our house. Because from the beginning I started in this house that we adapted as a small hostel to receive people who came to visit our beautiful Cotacachi. When we started about 10 years ago, Jairo had returned after having lived in the US for 20 years. He returned to his country with several dreams fulfilled, but definitely with such a large void, because, apart from the economic situation that was fine, something very important in his life was missing that which had pushed him to emigrate and work hard so that he could one day start a family. The same void which was what one day, after 20 years, pushed him to return to his country and seek to create and start a business in addition to starting a family. So the search began jointly, and here we are 10 years later with a small and beautiful business that is this hotel, with a family of 5 members:  Jairo the boss, Carmen the boss, Sheccid, Rebecca and the little imp Alicia, our daughters, plus Bertitha, our collaborator, an incredible person, a warrior, and a cancer survivor. Where every guest that arrives, arrives as such, and as they spend their stay, they are integrated into the family and become part of our family because this business is very particular. It is attended by its owners who take care of every detail and make the guests feel and have the best experience, Jairo, Carmen, Bertha and the girls are a family team that are always aware of any need and concern or doubt. They are willing and ready for anything. When our guests leave there is sadness for them and us because they have felt at home. The phrase Carmen always says to our guests at the farewell “remember that this is your home”.

La Cuadra is fantastic! The owners are like family, the drinks are the best, and the atmosphere is like being at your home away from home. Jairo, Carmen and their family are THE nicest people in the whole world!

I had a wonderful stay at La Cuadra. Jairo and his family made me feel at home. It was comfortable, clean, and conveniently located. I will return.

I had a great experience at La Cuadra. They were all so nice, helpful, informative, and most importantly, made me feel at home, which can be very nice when you're thousands of miles from home. The included breakfast was huge, delicious … More and is worth $8 alone or more. Highly recommend. Thanks Jaíro!

The owner of this place is friendly and helpful. We are traveling on a budget and they were able to work us into a spacious room, private bath, comfiest and largest bed we’ve had yet! Little did we know the price we agreed on $15 was … More per person so this actually turned into the most expensive place we’ve stayed as well... (being the off season and our seasonal work isn’t very lucrative- majority of our stays have been around $10-$15 per night) breakfast (lots of eggs, avocado, ham, and two slices of toast with jugo and a large cup of amazing local coffee) all included.
Although, I went to take a shower and there was no hot water so I waited until morning thinking it ran out. It was still ice cold so we went and asked and he forgot to turn the hot water on on accident

Only visited the coffee shop. It's good enough.
